Weaving my very own fairy tale

As a little child, just like so many others, I have always loved and believed in fairy tales. I still can recall how it felt watching those movies... it always made me feel good and the world seemed so much brighter and sweeter.

But growing up means giving up some of those fantasies because they seemed to just drift away, out of grasp...or simply put, they become something 'out of reality.'

Now, being a wife and a mother, and just watching my child sleeping, I wonder if I could still salvage my belief in fairy tales...and that of happy endings. Then I realized, I am living and weaving my very own fairy tale.

Every girl dreams of a "Knight in Shining Armor" to sweep her off her feet someday and they'll have a little bundle of joy and a happy ending. As for me, my knight did come along and swept me off my feet and now we have a little girl to complete our family.

I am glad that no matter how tainted my life gets, I still have that heart of a child deep within me.... a heart that believes. I need to keep that heart especially now that I have another child to help me weave many more fairy tales.

Top 10 places I'd like to go to...someday! Part III

Now we're done to the last three destinations. You all set to go?

My eight destination is Russia. It is for me the best place to chill out. Almost everyone I meet who had been to Russia had their both thumbs up. If by chance you've seen the movie of Clive Owen and Angelina Jolie (Beyond Borders), James Bond movies, and The Saint, you'll not argue with my point. It is very cold out there and although I have a very low tolerance of cold temperature, I'll take my chances.

There's something about Russia that is almost mystical. Its seclusion has webbed further mystery and magic into its atmosphere. It has gone through so much and yet it remained majestic throughout the years.

Now, after chilling out, and my energy level almost depleted, I need some perking up. I have always had sweet tooth and could never resist the sensation of pure satisfaction that I get from Swiss chocolates, actually also Belgian and German choco bars. Hmmm Chocolat, anyone? Aside from being known of its trademark as ' Chocolate Country', it is also very popular for its scenic and relaxing lush natural environment. This is where I'd like to relax and be re-vitalized in one of Switzwerland's hospice-resorts that give you a sense of serenity and contentness.

Finally, the last stop....I reserved this special slot for my very dear Italy. I can't remember when I fell in love with Italy, or when did I first learned of its beauty...I have dream so many times about going there and every time I fell deeper for it. They say that Paris is the 'city of love' but for me, Venice is. I am so obsessed with its narrow canals, gondolas, little cafes, bridges and archways, cobblestones pavements, cute cars, Vespa scooters, pasta, and everything else.

In so may instances did I just watch movies that featured Venice or Italy in general. I don't know if there's any place that could match this fascination that consumed me as Italy does.

Compared to their French neighbors, I think Italians are better tempered and passionate. When I grow old, I would like to ride on a gondola with my hubby and be serenaded by the 'bangkeros'. They say, when one is in love, one can not be too old. Maybe this is the reason why people of all ages flock to this city to rejuvenate their souls and rekindle the flame of heart and romance that has been forgotten through the years.

So this is the end of our journey...and the beginning of it. It's been a swell sharing my 'ultimate journey' with you and I hoped you felt the same way.

Top 10 places I'd like to go to...someday! Part II

To complete my previous post, my fourth itinerary would be a place where I could be amongst those geniuses that I hear and read so much about...geniuses in their own ways in the fields of Art, Music, Philosophy, and Science. My friend who had been to the Louvre said that everybody couldn't just take their eyes off 'David's' statue and Venus de Milo's. You'll just have to take a moment to marvel at their perfection. And besides, who doesn't want to look at nude bodies? Don't look at me! haha

Fifth, I'd like to go to my 'ancestors' land...China! (HK, Beijing, Shanghai, Macau)

I've always had this fascination in Chinese culture. I love Chinese movies, love their food (except for those ultra-exotic ones), their lifestyle, their resilience, their passion for tradition and culture...The depict both the Yin and Yang of every aspect in this world. I have been to Macau, HK, and Shenzhen, and other mainland provinces but I have yet been to the colorful provinces of Beijing and Shanghai. One of these days, I will go there and see for myself it indeed their reputation becomes them. :-)

Great Wall of China and Glimpse of the Forbidden City

Sixth, to live out my fantasies of 'yesteryears' and get a glimpse of the 'happy ever after' settings. I'd like to see the palaces of the royalty that fascinated not only the people of then but of the present. Who doesn't know the longest-reigning monarchy? Until now, we have not overcome the feeling of awe when it comes to royalty. It's like they are the living 'fairy tales' that constantly reminds us that castles and palaces are real and they could exist among us. Of course, they also go with the changes as society also changes. But for sure, they still remain as what we have always regarded them to be: royalty. The castles in UK and Germany have always held a special place in my list.

The famous 'Disney' Castle

Edinburg Castle

Seventh, where the "blood diamonds' came from....Africa! For all these years, Africa has never failed to draw attention from the rest of the world. It seems they are always in the news. They say God has forsaken Africa with all the troubles they are in, but I think, it's the other way around...the 'evil' hasn't left Africa alone. The 'evil' takes in many forms, opportunistic states that couldn't just get their hands off it. They want to drain and take everything from Africa and manipulate them to make the peoples turn against each other...and regard them as enemies when the real enemies are the very people who they thought are 'doing' them good.

Just to prolong the excitement a little bit, I'll leave you guys guessing on where my next adventure would lead me. I hope you are enjoying yourselves with this little 'travel guide' edition of mine. I am taking this opportunity in thanking all those wonderful photographers, tourists, enthusiasts for sharing their magical experiences across the globe through their photos. For me, photos are the best way of showing the world that this is a great place to be in and that we should make it our responsibility in keeping it as it is for our generation, and the next, and so forth.
